Our library program is focused on providing student opportunities to become lifelong readers and learners. To pursue that goal, all Early Bird - Grade 6 students come to the library each week for a period of thirty to forty minutes. Students may also visit the library at any time during school hours to do independent research or to check out books.

A sequential library curriculum is followed emphasizing literature appreciation and library and research skills in correlation with classroom content curriculum. This includes teaching students how to use the many information sources that are available. The library is fully automated with eight computer work stations that can be used by teachers and students. As new technologies become available in our district, these will be incorporated into the lessons.

The importance of extra-curricular reading also plays a significant role in our library program. There are over 20,000 titles available to circulate and materials are checked out at the average of 900 items a week. Students are encouraged to participate in several Independent Reading Programs at various grade levels.

The library is a place of ever-expanding life learning. Children are provided with the necessary study and library skills to access information and literature skills that lead to a love of reading and learning.
