RECYCLING NEWS
Our "Green Team" approach wins DEP award! That was in 2008, today we are still going strong.
Mansfield's district wide recycling saves thousands of dollars and continues to divert recyclable material from the waste stream. Cans, bottles, paper, cardboard, computers, light bulbs, metal, ridged plastic, ink cartridges, and more are all recycled. For more recycling information click the recycle link at the left.
GREEN CLEANING
Since 2005 the Mansfield Township School District has been following Green Cleaning procedures. As indicated above we have now enhanced our Green Cleaning by using activeion, further reducing our use of chemicals. All of our paper products (towels and tissue) are Green Seal certified made of 100% recycled material.
MICROFIBER CLEANING SYSTEMS
To further promote green cleaning we have switched from conventional cleaning methods to microfiber cleaning systems. The microfiber systems clean better, use less water, reduce airborne particulates, and are easier to use.
ENERGY CONSERVATION
Our energy conservation practices have greatly reduced district wide energy consumption. In 2004 we started benchmarking our utility use. We have cut our electrical consumption district wide by 18% since 2004 without factoring in the solar. We added solar panels at the Hydock school in 2010. See the power by clicking the solar link.
DID YOU KNOW
If we recycled another 10% of our printer and toner cartridges world wide, we would cut our greenhouse gas emmissions by 100 million pounds--the equivalent of taking 10,000 cars of the road for an entire year!
